Lieutenant General (Retired) Michael Groen advises ASF on defense and other geopolitical issues. He served more than 36 years in the U.S. Marines, culminating his career as the Director of the Joint AI Center (JAIC) at the Department of Defense (DoD). Prior, he served at the National Security Agency (NSA), where he oversaw Computer Network Operations; served as the Director of Joint Staff Intelligence (JSJ2); and worked closely with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Secretary of Defense, and other senior leaders across the Department. He is an experienced commander and multi-tour combat veteran. He is the author of With the First Marine Division in Iraq, 2003: No Greater Friend, No Worse Enemy. He has MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics. Today, he works with a range of technology companies (AI, data, cybersecurity), helping them inform transformational changes in military capabilities in the digital age.
